The "Dingo Fence" in Australia is the longest fence on earth.
It stretches for 3,488 miles or 5,600 kilometers, from Surfers Paradise Queensland to the Great Australian Bight, in south Australia.
It was constructed primarily to protect the sheep from the dingos and wild dogs.
In the United Kingdom the firm of Barnard, Bishop & Barnard was established in Norwich to produce chain-link fencing by machine.
The process was developed by Charles Barnard in 1844 based on cloth weaving machines (up until that time Norwich had a long history of cloth manufacture).
