We space our posts between 7' and 8' apart, our board spacing varies depending on the type of fence it is.
You also have an option to have a "cap" board that covers the joints in the rails on each post.

High-Tensile is a good option for solid containment of animals, it's a little more maintenance to keep the fence line clear, so you don't lose any of the electric current in the fence due to brush and weeds growing against it.
But It is a very economical option because the post spacing can be farther apart then your typical fence, and you don't need as many strands of wire.
